Review of SMOK Osub 40W Starter kit

The SMOK Osub Starter kit is a 40W full featured VW/TC mod with an internal 1350mAh battery and color matched Helmet tank that is absolutely tiny – it easily fits in the watch pocket (coin pocket, former Zippo lighter pocket, whatever you prefer) of your favorite jeans. The Osub is also easily palmed for a stealth vape.

The Osub is a clean looking mod with a hidden fire button that is concealed by a C-shaped firing key attached to the side of the mod with magnets – you simply squeeze the mod and it fires. The smooth, rounded firing key is easily removed if you want to use the mod without it, and it also hides the USB charging port.

The side mounted OLED is small but legible with the icon-driven menu system, and the +/- buttons are located directly below. As with many mods you can rotate the screen to to your preference, and lock the mod by pressing +/- buttons simultaneously.

The black and silver review sample is a really elegant looking mod with the color matched Helmet tank, and the kit has a nice heft which gives it a quality feel for such a miniature device. The Osub is also available in black with gold trim, silver, and white.

Like many of us, I’ll admit that I don’t always read directions. It’s ironic because in my former life as a technical writer that’s pretty much all I wrote. Go figure.

Anyway, after opening the Osub Starter kit I turned the mod over in my hands several times looking for the USB port – and found none. With an internal battery I knew it had to have one, so I hooked the edge of the firing key and gently tugged. The magnetic key fell away and the Osub revealed its secret: the port is hidden. Pretty cool.

Moving on, I charged the mod, filled the tank, and explored the menus. Like other SMOK mods the Osub features intuitive menu icons. Press the firing key three times quickly to enter the setup and operation menus. You then scroll through the various icons with the +/- buttons.

If you are looking for a small mod that isn’t a tube shaped Ego on steroids – and does temp control too – the Osub 40W starter kit might be a perfect choice.

Preview of SMOK AL85 starter Kit

SMOK unveils the AL85 starter Kit, and this xenomorph should look instantly familiar to fans of the Alien 220 mod, with similar design cues that include the signature side-fire switch and detailed OLED display.

Even though the AL85 mod borrows the top battery cap design of the Eleaf Pico, to allow simple replacement of the single 18650 battery, make no mistake: the AL85 is pure Alien.

The AL85 mod delivers 85W of power and features temperature control with TCR, a side USB port, and a large OLED which displays a ton of detailed information in both VW and TC modes, including VW/TC/MEMORY MODE, vaping effect, voltage, battery life, resistance and more.

Nearly identical in size to the Pico, the AL85 mod is a bit wider at 27mm and will eagerly accept any 25mm atomizer that you may want to use, with no overhang. Even so, many will be perfectly happy using the included 3ml Baby tank – the smallest version of SMOK’s hugely popular TFV8 Beast series of sub-ohm tanks. The kit includes two dual core coils, one 0.4Ω rated at 40-80W (pre-installed), and one 0.6Ω rated at 20-50W.

And you can get it from Urvapin, nice price.
